From 1900 to 2011: Porsche to build on the electric and hybrid

The Geneva Motor Show Porsche is the opportunity to demonstrate its expertise in hybrid technology. For those who do not know yet is the German mark which was the first in 1900 to design the first Hybrid history. Under the brand Lohner Porsche's "Semper Vivus" (still alive) étrennes the parallel hybrid technology. 111 years later it is still there because it was rebuilt in the greatest secrecy at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart. And it rolls. A nod to link with today's products.

Watch the video:

In 2011, a worthy heir to this proud grandmother is of course the Panamera. The sports sedan four-seat Porsche is after the Cayenne S, the second model of the range to be broken in hybrid version. It continues the strategy Intelligent Performance.

Without sacrificing sportiness and elegance, the marriage between the 3.3-liter V6 to 333 hp - with 8-speed Tiptronic - and an electric motor of 34 kW (47 hp) gives a cocktail synonymous with performance and fuel efficiency. Performance with 380 hp in total, an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 6 seconds and a top speed of 270 km / h. Sobriety with a consumption of only 7.1 L/100 km. In standard configuration, the Panamera hybrid rejects 168 g CO2 per km. But with low resistance tires developed by Michelin, it can down to 159 g.

Watch the video:

Another indication, the Panamera hybrid can run for 2 km in pure electric mode and a speed of 85 km / h. The car can also in certain stages where power is not necessary to switch to freewheel, until 165 km / h. It will be noted in passing that Porsche chose to stay at the nickel-metal-hydride.

Another curosité on the Porsche stand at the Geneva show will be the 918 RSR, which was already mentioned here, as was shown in Detroit. It is a synthesis of two concepts that have marked recent months: the 911 GT3 R Hybrid one hand and the 918 Spyder other.

Watch the video teaser:

Under an aggressive dress, elegant with a touch of gray orange headbands, this supercar for the competition is powered by a V8 with direct injection of 563 hp, assisted by two motors power of 75 kW each. Is a total power of 767 hp. Aboard the 918 RSR also the passenger seat a flywheel which recovers energy during braking and helps to provide extra power for overtaking. It Car laboratory at that stage.

See video of the 918 RSR in action:

The 918 RSR is based on old models of racing past the 908 and 917. The message is clear: Porsche has increased to a higher level in the hybridization and use it in competition and on the road.

And the story is not over, as Porsche began testing for future electric cars. Already announced last summer, the Boxster E is not intended to be marketed. It was produced in triplicate in a pilot project in Stuttgart on electric vehicles and charging infrastructure.
With his profile sports car mid-engined Boxster was the ideal vehicle to move to electric propulsion. It is lightweight and can easily accommodate new components (electric motor and battery technology to withstand crashes), while maintaining security. Porsche has built two electric motors totaling 180 kW, 245 hp. The Boxster E therefore provides the same level of performance as a Boxster S with conventional engine, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.3 seconds. Other data: the lithium-ion a capacity of 29 kWh provides a range of about 160 kilometers.
From 1900 to 2011, the circle is complete. And Porsche does not intend to abdicate on driving pleasure.
